Travelling to Ankara for Rhinoplasty

If you live outside Ankara or abroad, the process can be organised around a photo-based preliminary review, a planned consultation, a short stay in Ankara and remote follow-up.

At a glance

Patients travelling from outside Ankara usually start with a preliminary review of photos sent on WhatsApp. An in-person consultation then takes place at the practice in Çukurambar, Ankara. If surgery is planned, staying in Ankara for about one week until the splint is removed is recommended. Later follow-up can partly be done with photos and video calls.

Step by step: from first message to final check-up

The aim is to reduce the number of journeys without compromising consultation and follow-up quality:

  • Photo review: send front, both profiles, both three-quarter views and a base view of your nose on WhatsApp.
  • Preliminary information: general information on scope, options and topics to discuss at consultation.
  • In-person consultation: the definitive plan is made only after examining the inside and outside of the nose in Ankara.
  • Surgery and first week: stay in Ankara for early check-ups and splint removal.
  • Remote follow-up: photos and video calls in the following months, with in-person visits when needed.

How to take photos for the review

Take photos facing a window in daylight, against a plain background and without filters. Close-up selfies make the nose look larger, so ask someone to take the photos from about one to one and a half metres.

  • Straight front view with a neutral expression
  • Right and left full profile
  • Right and left three-quarter view
  • Base view with the head tilted back
  • Smiling profile (to show tip movement)

How long should you stay in Ankara?

The splint is usually removed about a week after rhinoplasty or septorhinoplasty, so plan to spend the first week after surgery in Ankara. Allow at least one day before surgery for the consultation and tests.

Revision surgery, cartilage grafts or additional procedures may extend the timeline. Flight timing should be agreed with your surgeon.

Getting to the practice

The practice is on Muhsin Yazıcıoğlu Caddesi in Çukurambar, Çankaya, close to Söğütözü and AŞTİ (the intercity bus terminal). Kızılay and Ankara Railway Station (high-speed trains) are a short drive away. From Esenboğa Airport you can take airport buses or a taxi; journey time depends on traffic.

Accommodation and companion

A companion for the first day and night after surgery is recommended. Choose quiet accommodation with a lift and easy access to the practice and hospital. Çukurambar, Söğütözü and Balgat offer many options. Plan to rest with your head elevated rather than sightseeing in the first days.

Follow-up after you return home

You can share recovery photos at agreed intervals and send questions by WhatsApp or phone. The nasal tip may stay swollen for months. Remote follow-up complements but does not replace in-person care. In case of heavy bleeding, increasing pain, fever or breathlessness, contact the team and, if necessary, a local healthcare facility immediately.
