A brow lift raises low brows and forehead tissues to a higher, natural position, through small scalp incisions endoscopically, via the temples or near the brow. It is often assessed together with eyelid surgery.
Who is it for?
Brows below the orbital rim, especially a drooping outer brow, deep forehead lines and apparent upper-lid excess. Treating the lids alone can disappoint if a low brow is missed.
Techniques
- Endoscopic brow lift: small scalp incisions with a camera.
- Temporal lift: for a drooping outer brow.
- Hairline forehead lift: avoids lengthening a high forehead.
- Direct brow lift: a limited option for some older patients.
Recovery
Swelling, bruising and numbness of the forehead and around the eyes; scalp incisions are hidden by hair and sensation usually recovers over months. Return to social life in 1–2 weeks.
Compared with botulinum toxin
Toxin can raise the brow a few millimetres and soften lines temporarily; marked brow ptosis needs surgery for a lasting result.
