Ear reconstruction rebuilds an underdeveloped (microtia) or lost ear. Usually a framework carved from rib cartilage is placed under the skin and the ear is completed in two or more stages. In children surgery waits until enough rib cartilage is available, typically school age.

- Stage two: the ear is lifted from the head with support and a skin graft.
- Refinements: lobe and detail adjustments.
