What Do You Need to Know After Rhinoplasty Surgery?
Since the rhinoplasty surgery process will be a process that you will not feel and comply with at all, there are some important points that you should pay attention to afterwards. The most important of these is to avoid situations that increase intracranial pressure. What scares my patients the most are the nasal tampons used in previous surgeries and the pain they will feel after surgery. These disturbing situations are now far behind us. You will not have any pain after nose surgery and nose tampons will not bother you much. Sometimes even nasal tampons are not used in suitable patients.
Your surgery takes approximately 1.5 – 3 hours. After you regain consciousness at the end of this period, you will be taken to your private room and your follow-up will be carried out there. In your patient room, the head of your patient bed must be high and you must have a tampon in your nose and a plaster cast on your nose. Once you get to your room, the nurse first starts applying ice to your eyes and nose. Once you get home, you will be asked to keep your head elevated and apply ice at regular intervals if necessary. Depending on the type of anesthesia applied (I do not perform and do not recommend nose surgery with local anesthesia), you can usually go home the next day. Sometimes your hospital stay may be longer. If there is such a situation, I will inform you before or immediately after the surgery.
Eating light and juicy foods on the day of surgery and switching to a normal diet the next day will prevent problems such as nausea. Consuming small amounts of water at frequent intervals will prevent dry mouth.
Using the medications I recommend regularly and on time will prevent you from feeling pain after the surgery.
How Many Days Does It Take to Remove the Nasal Pad
The only problem after the surgery will be not being able to breathe through the nose. You can have the nasal tampons removed by coming to the clinic after 2 or 3 days. Removing tampons is not a very uncomfortable procedure.
After the tampons are removed, I recommend edema-resolving sprays and moisturizing creams to help the inside of the nose heal as quickly as possible. Using these sprays and creams regularly will help you heal and breathe easily through your nose. If a nasal tampon is not placed in your surgery, you will be advised to start using the sprays and creams mentioned above immediately after the surgery.
5-7. Your cast is changed daily and a new cast is made in its place. This procedure is painless and easy. The new bandage/plaster is also 12-14. It is removed in a day and you can now take a bath. It is very important to wash and clean the skin of your nose. You can use cleansers or regular soap.
The nose you will see on the 12th day is a nose that has taken its new shape but the skin is slightly swollen, and these swellings decrease rapidly almost every day, especially in the first month. It usually takes up to six months for it to completely disappear and no edema or swelling remain. If your nasal skin is thick, it will take a little longer for the edema to disappear and return to normal.
3 days of bed rest after the surgery will allow you to recover quickly and quickly. You can go out and about and return to your normal life (with a cast) on the 4th-5th day.
Traveling by plane for the first 7 days after nose surgery is not recommended due to the possibility of bleeding due to high pressure.
It may be necessary to lean forward for the first 15 days and take precautions against situations that increase intracranial pressure (such as constipation, sneezing and coughing).
Once your cast is removed, you can swim but not dive.
It is very important that you do not wear glasses for the first 3 months, stay away from ball or team sports, and avoid blows to the nose.
If you have had nose surgery in the summer months, it would be appropriate to use sunscreen to protect your sensitive skin.
Your New Look;
With each passing day after the surgery, your nose will start to look more beautiful and your morale will gradually increase. However, recovery is a slow process.
